Oncology/Cancer

Radio Therapy

Radio Therapy AKA radiation therapy helps to destroy and stop the spread of cancer cells or cancerous tumours.
Known to be a curative and palliative treatment, the type of radiotherapy is determined on the location, size and stage of cancer in the patient.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy helps to slow down, stop and/or destroy the growth of cancer cells. While alternate cancer therapies like radiation therapy and surgery focus on one particular part of the body, chemotherapy helps to prevent the spread of cancer across various parts of the body. It is one of the most recommended forms of cancer treatment especially when there is a risk of the cancerous cells spreading throughout the body.

Autologous & allogeneic transplant

Autologous and allogeneic or stem cell transplant is a procedure that is used to replace ineffective or diseased stem cells with new ones. This is also known to be one of the lifesaving techniques for patients suffering from serious blood disorders or blood cancer.
In an Allogeneic transplant, healthy stem cells are extracted from a donor after conducting various tests to ensure there is a match. This donor could be a family member or an unknown person.
In the case of Autologous transplant, the healthy stem cells are extracted from the patient before he/she undergoes any treatment. Liquid Nitrogen is used to freeze the stem cells and then injected back into the patient’s body post the treatment.
