Dental Treatments

Dentists recommend different dental treatments depending on the condition of your tooth and gums, such as gum disease, tooth decay, broken/chipped tooth/teeth, yellow teeth, cavities and a host of other dental problems. Scaling/cleaning, dental fillings, RCT, bonding, veneers, crowns/onlays are some common dental treatments.

Dental Implant

Dental implants, known as endosseous implants/fixtures are placed in the jawbone and these implants bond with the natural tooth. Dental implants are used as a strong base for artificial teeth known as crowns. An abutment is a connector which is placed on the implant to support the crowns, which are custom made to match the patient’s natural teeth.

Smile Designing

Smile designing is the process of improving the smile through various dental procedures such as composite bonding, dental veneers, teeth whitening and dental implants. This is a cosmetic procedure and people who suffer from missing tooth/teeth, stains, tooth loosening, decaying tooth and bacterial plaque or people who just want to enhance their smile opt for smile designing.

Denture

A denture is a prosthetic device which is made to replace any missing teeth in the mouth. A denture or dentures are supported by surrounding hard and soft tissue of the mouth. Denture/Dentures are usually removable, but some can be permanent through bonding, clasping, dental implants.

Crown & Bridges

Crown and bridges are prosthetic devices which are cemented onto the existing teeth or onto dental implants and can be removed only by a dentist. A crown covers or caps damaged tooth and are available in ceramic, porcelain, gold, metal alloys, acrylic and so on. Bridges uses the existing teeth to fill in the area left by the vacant teeth.

Whitening Treatments

A tooth whitening lightens teeth by removing stains as well as discoloration. Whitening improves the appearance of teeth but it is not a once only procedure. It has to be repeated a few times in order to maintain the white colour of the teeth. The outermost layer of the enamel is the layer which is whitened.

Surgical Dentistry

Surgical treatment and management of the teeth and surrounding jaw bones is known as surgical dentistry. Some common types of surgical dentistry are Endodontic surgery (surgery of root and pulp of tooth), Prosthodontics (veneers, crowns, bridge, etc.), Orthodontic treatment (implants), Oral and maxillofacial surgery and Periodontics. Surgical dentistry using sophisticated equipment and techniques provide relief to many minor and major dental problems.

Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Therapy or RCT is a treatment to remove infected pulp of tooth. RCT eliminates infection and protects the decontaminated tooth from any further microbial invasion. RCT removes the blood vessels, nerve tissue and other parts of the dental pulp, creating a cavity which is filled with different types of fillings.

Dental Restorations

Dental restorations or dental fillings restore the integrity, function and morphology of missing teeth which might have been caused by cavities and/or external trauma. Dental restorations are broadly divided into two types – direct as well as indirect, which are again divided into different categories by the size and location of the teeth.

Crowns

Crowns are artificial covers for the teeth or for implants, which have been damaged. Crowns are cemented to implants or natural teeth. The materials which are used to make crowns range from metallic (silver and gold) to cement (porcelain etc.). Crowns help to chew and bite better also.

Bridges work

A bridge spans the vacant space between teeth. They are ‘glued’ to artificial implants or natural teeth which surround the space. The implants or natural teeth which support bridges are known as abutments. The dentist takes an impression of abutment tooth as well as the vacant space to design the mould to make the bridge.

Laminates / Veneers work

Dental veneers are known as dental laminates also, and are extremely thin shells which are custom made according to individual requirements. Veneers are made from tooth-coloured materials which are designed to fit on the front of teeth as a cover to enhance the appearance. The shells bond to the teeth’s front which changes the colour, shape length and shape of the natural tooth.

Fractured Tooth repair

Fractured tooth/teeth can be repaired to look like natural teeth. There can be many types of fractured teeth, such as craze lines, fractured cusp, cracked tooth, split tooth, vertical root fracture and so on. These fractures can be repaired by Dental Bonding, Veneers, Crowns, Root Canal Therapy and Dental Implants.

Teeth Jewellery work

Teeth jewellery is the latest trend which is catching on very fast. People can choose from 24 carat gold, crystals and diamonds. The procedure takes about 10-15 minutes and as the jewellery is not drilled in, it can be removed at any time. The adhesion of the teeth studs can last from six months up to 6 years.
